Tonight in Seattle:

A Kinks Reunion? Please, please, please let this rumor be true

From WikipediaLondon's Daily Mail is reporting that Kinks frontman Ray Davies is getting the original lineup of the seminal 1960s rock band together for a reunion sometime in 2008, likely to coincide with the release of a box set spanning the band's history.

This would, reportedly, be the first time since 1969 that the original lineup (Ray Davies, his brother/guitarist Dave Davies, bassist Peter Quaife, and drummer Mick Avory) has played together. Dave Davies suffered a stroke in 2004 but is said to be recuperating very well. No one has played under "The Kinks" name since 1997.

Ray told the Daily Mail that, "It would be great to get back together just to see what musical ideas we had and what would happen." That sounds to me like they may want to put out another album, but I also hope it means a tour is in the works. An American tour. With a stop in Seattle. Not that I ask for much.

Here's a clip of the band playing their first single, a cover of Little Richard's "Long Tall Sally":

Hugs all around to Idolator, of course.

Wow, I decided to start my morning listening to the Kinks (right now), then I came upon this...its funny how things work out that way...

At a small venue, like Neumo's. And that I still manage to get tix even though they sell out in 2 hours.

no way this is happening, at least not the original line up. Dave is still recovering from a stroke and Pete is on kidney dialysis. and then there's still the fact that Dave still pretty much can't stand his brother.
