Tonight in Seattle:

Obits (ex-Hot Snakes/Drive Like Jehu) sign to Sub Pop

Whoa... so even though our economy is shit, and a lot of labels are tightening their proverbial belts, Sub Pop is stepping up with the rock. They just signed the Obits, the new Rick Froberg project that played the Sub Pop 20 Fest in July.

Rick Froberg is the hardcore (by that I mean hard... like awesome) genius behind the Hot Snakes and Drive Like Jehu, a personal favorite. Sub Pop will release their debut in March, entitled I Blame You. They're on tour with the Constantines and the Night Marchers currently but have no dates for the Seattle area.

This just happened? I assumed they were signed this summer, since they played the sub pop fest.
If you can't wait for the album their new 7" on Stint is good pretty good.
