The 2007 Blip Festival starts tomorrow in New York City. It brings the top chip tune composers in the world together for one big weekend long party.
These folks modify old videogames and create mimimalist techno tracks and have apparently created an entirely new genre of music, the New York Times reports. If anyone wants to set me up with tickets to NY and hotel accomidations, I'm totally there.

I love this genre! 8-bit is incredible and so versitile! I will certainly accompany you to NYC if someone will give us both tickets :D

I'm sure a trip to NYC for you and I falls safely under the TIG travel budget. We'll file daily, even hourly, reports so it would be totally worth it.

Oh yes, and the fact that we're the only ones who have commented on this festival really shows how high the 8-bit revolution is on TIGs list of priorities :]

Well, I don't have any say in appropriating the travel budget, but I am in favor of sending you both to NY for it and I would love to read your coverage. I would log in to TIG every hour for updates.
(Of course, I fully expect you both to have my back when it comes time for me to make a similar pitch for next year's Iceland Airwaves festival. Right?)

I will do it! But when I asked my mum if I could go last year, she's like "It's in Texas? Only if it's in Austin", so I told her it was, and she said "No, you're not going to Texas" hahah

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Though I would wait till you're 21. Most of the official events there are in bars, so you'd be stuck listening from doorways a lot sans ID.
But otherwise --- HELLS YEAH!!!!!

I say yes to all the aforementioned festivals in this comment thread. Iceland? I'm totally there with you Chris.

Dana @ 11: Oh I can get a fake ID in time! Besides, there will be so many people, they won't pay attention to little old me :]
