Tonight in Seattle:

Three Imaginary DVDs to See: Television Madness

Ironically, this week is officially “Turn off Your TV” week. But as much as I like that idea I’m still totally media-centric, and thus am thrilled that the following shows are out on DVD today.

30 Rock: Season 4: I feel like I “pull a Liz Lemon” every single day, which is probably why I love this show so much. Liz is what would happen if women turned off their filter and said and did everything that was on their mind, and Tina Fey does it so expertly you can barely tell she’s acting (mostly because you’re laughing so hard). Really, the entire cast is awesome and this show is more than worth your time.

Community: Season 1: I was initially resistant to this show because I have a huge crush on Joel McHale and honestly couldn’t tell if it was good or if I just loved his abs. Lucky for me, it IS really good. Clever pop culture references, a hilarious group of actors and Chevy Chase (!!!)—what else could you ask for?

Modern Family: Season 1: Everyone I know has been recommending this show to me, but because I’m so OCD about television that I don’t feel like I can start in the middle (even if it is a sit-com). It scored so many Emmys this year I obviously need to check it out, and now is the perfect time.

The only thing I love more than HBO's Bored to Death is Modern Family. I think you can pick up anywhere in the series and jump right into the party. They don't usually reference past episodes / inside jokes from episode to episode. I can't even count how many times I've recommended the "Great Expectations" episode to people. "I can't NOT think of things I want."
Good to know Liz! Maybe I'll give it a go with the new season and then rent S1 as I go. :) I'm curious about Bored to Death too - but I'm betting that one warrants watching-all-in-a-row, yeah?
Yeah, I think Bored to Death is best served in order. Episodes are only 30 mins and there's only 8 of them... which makes for great (and manageable) marathon. B2D kinda snuck in out of nowhere for me and now I can't wait for season 2 (which luckily is pretty soon).

To combine my two faves right now and use my favorite Modern Family quote again (kinda) "I can't NOT think of people who won't like it." (me=dorkfest)
