I took a short road trip east to see Visqueen in Snoqualmie with Art Alexakis. Visqueen were fantastic as always. Art was pretty much as middling as you might expect. The quote of the night was when he was talking about "Hotel California" and he said "That line's so awful I wish I wrote it."

From Terri Tarantula's dazzling debut/CD release at the Sunset to People Eating People at the Sunset (can you tell I love the Sunset?) Friday and Saturday night, it was a weekend of dark, exciting, entrancing piano/keyboard-driven femme fatale noir-rock for me.

St Vincent show for me, but I got there after Fences and just before Wildbirds and Peacedrums. They were actually pretty good considering it was only one guy on (peace) drums and one woman doing vocals and occasional percussion.

St Vincent doing a cover of "These Days" was pretty cool too. All in all a pretty good show.

I caught Vedera (they were great and should start getting some notice/props) opening over at the Showbox SoDo, then went over to Neumos and caught the whole night. I loved Fences. They seemed to me like a Death Cab for Cutie with Banjo and other picking instruments. Wildbirds and Peacedrums gave it everything they had, just like the last time I saw them in town with Lykke Li. I've loved Annie since her debut. She/St. Vincent was like a sweet Sonic Youth with Jenny Lewis/Kristin Hersh lyrics. The sound quality all night was superb. "not always true at Neumos". She didn't play "Marry Me", but did play "Dig a Pony".
